kodak moment

 i just found/remembered this photo from a few weeks ago when i finally uploaded my pictures to my computer and i had to share it somewhere because it is so funny to me for some reason.  thanks to mr. matt clayton for catching this moment - although i'm sure this won't be showing up in his portfolio anytime soon.

road-trip-ing

last week amber, rocco, and i drove to vegas to visit chris&azy&gus and of course meet their newest little one, sully.  it was such a relaxing trip and so fun to just hang out and chat all day...along with afternoon lunch dates with chris and occasional pit-stop shopping trips.  {and i have to say, it was nice to escape the mini-monsoon season utah was experiencing for some vegas heat}  gus is so much bigger than the last time i saw him at christmas and i cannot believe sully is almost 3 months old already.  so glad i finally got to  meet him, being an aunt is the best.  and of course, here are some pictures....and p.s. rocco would not come near my camera when i had it out, so here are sully and gus!

as far as other roadtripping goes...tanner and i made a quick trip to st george earlier this week, we are on our way to california next, iowa after that, and probably a mini vacation to tahoe is somewhere in our near future as well.  we heart summer.

design show in 3-D

We went to the AIGA 100 Show this weekend in Salt Lake {AIGA = the professional association for design} and were surrounded by work done by Tanner and his work who marketed the event.  Posters of comic book Brigham Young, all in red-white-and-blue, complete with 3-D glasses made everything all the more impressive.  What can I say?  I'm proud to be the wife of my designer husband.

Overdue.

I have not posted in nearly 2 months almost and as you can imagine, we have been significantly less busy since the end of the semester.  BUT....surprisingly, we have been busier than I expected...so here are a few pictures to document the end of april and all of may.

i finally had lithotripsy and crushed my second stone...

...which means my kidneys are currently stone-free...

the only disappointing thing about spring this year is that it has looked almost consistently like this...

Okay, so maybe this doesn't make it look like we have been really all that busy, but in between these photos we worked {and tanner still went to school and is still going to school}, played with friends & family, painted our living room a happy pale yellow, de-cluttered the nasty anxiety-inducing corners of our home, watched desperate housewives until three every morning {sorry tanner, i had to tell}, almost went to Vegas and then decided last minute to stay in Utah for the weekend, laid out on our roof and got sunburns that turned into tans, slept in here and there... and have enjoyed being busy with nothing stressful at all {well, mostly} 

first real goal of summer: take more pictures for all of you to see and for me to remember.

it has been over a month of going back and forth to the doctor, receiving x-rays & ct scans, and waiting.  waiting for the pain to go away, waiting for the pain to get so bad so i could just have surgery and get it over with, and waiting for the stone to pass.  well i am happy to announce that it passed all by itself last night and i didn't even feel a thing.  don't worry i kept it for memories sake and also to have the dr do an analysis on it so i might be able to learn how to prevent these in the future.  unfortunately...there is another little jagged crystallized guy hanging out in my kidney, so i will be having surgery in a couple of weeks to crush that one to pieces to avoid reliving the past month all over again.

in other news, a week from today i will be a college graduate!!!  you probably won't be hearing from me for a few days since i will be working on final papers (yes, the last ones i will turn in for my undergraduate career ever) and final exams.  wish me luck!

oh and my family is all coming out here wednesday to celebrate and i could not be more excited.  summer is oh so close.

still loving old photos

this is my great-grandma {nana} and my beautiful mother as an adorable little girl. my great-grandma was one of a kind - she was known for her leopard prints and big jewelery {i can't tell you how many times i borrowed her jewelry for high school dances} and she loved fashion, fake nails, and fake eyelashes.  she had her hair done at the salon every week and she always wore the latest trends.  she really was one of the most stylish and dignified {and cutest} ladies i've ever known and i really only knew her for the last fifteen years of her life, which definitely says something about her style in her older years.  

i saw this video today and i couldn't help but reminded of my nana & so i thought i would share it here.  i hope i am as spunky as these women in my old age!

more embarrassing than losing my keys on a daily basis...

looking over my blog this past month, i have been pretty pessimistic - i've had bad nights serving, gave birth to kidney stone #2 {i think...}, procrastinated on homework, and lost everything on my hard drive.  so on a more optimistic note, i have a slightly embarrassing and slightly hilarious story to share with you all today.

it all started at 10:00AM when i made my way for school.  i parked my car and attended all three of my classes {it was beautiful today by the way, i full on laid out on the grass during my hour break this afternoon}.  i didn't leave campus until after 4 in the afternoon - which is kind of a long day on campus for me - and i walked to my car like i always do.  when i got to where i had parked, i noticed my car was missing and that there were temporary construction signs all along the road informing people not to park there unless you want to get towed.  strangely enough, the place where i parked was empty. {seriously? how did i miss these this morning?} also, my phone was dead.  so i memorized the tow company's phone number and walked the rest of the way to our house.  when i got home, i called tanner in desperation - i was frustrated about the whole thing so tanner said he'd be on his way home soon to make sure we could get my car before they close.  then i called the tow company, which went straight to an anonymous voicemail.  so i decided i needed to go on a walk back to the crime scene to investigate the signs and to make sure i didn't somehow miss my own car {because wouldn't that be so embarrassing?}

i called tanner again on my walk back and our conversation went something like this:

me: i'm walking back to where i parked just to make sure i didn't miss my car.

tanner: did you really not look to see if your car was parked there?

me: well of course i looked, but i just don't think it really got towed. it doesn't make sense!

tanner: are you sure you didn't park somewhere else?

me: {pause} oh. my. gosh. 

yep. i definitely parked two blocks east of where i thought i parked and found my car undisturbed just where i left it and i'm having trouble deciding if this is better or worse than if i had actually just missed my car in the first place...
